The Thin Blue Line Caucus is a vast network joining together domestic and international law enforcement, local County Sheriffs, issue experts, legislators, advocates, and grassroots organizations for public safety and the rule of law in our communities, uphold legitimate due process in our court systems, and uphold nonpartisanship in our justice systems, while moving away from political weaponization of the courts. The Caucus also builds interdisciplinary partnerships through the longstanding Community Justice model that integrates criminal justice, health and human services, education, and economic development.
In a time of declining moral, increasing retirements in law enforcement, political targeting, increased violence against cops, and killing of those who put their lives on the line to protect us, Thin Blue Line Caucus is committed to reversing the curve, and protecting those who protect us!
Find a local law enforcement charity and contribute to their causes. Welcome law enforcement as special VIP guests and speakers to events. Find a neighborhood watch program, and support local police by keeping communications open. Or reach out to your local Sheriff or police department and find out if there are any ways to volunteer.
Thin Blue Line Caucus is founded on longstanding commitments to community justice partnerships, under principles of the Broken Windows model, crime prevention, and intervention to collectively reduce recidivism and relapse. Advocacy and partnership development programs are rooted in ongoing efforts since 2001, and are advanced to today's increasing concerns about excessive violence, trafficking, and fundamental lawlessness that requires a higher level of interagency partnerships and community engagement.
Citizens of every city and county need to advocate for public safety, and support their local Cops and Sheriffs to their city, county, state, federal legislators. These elected officials have a responsibility to uphold and defend the rule of law. Public safety first!
How are the crime rates in your community? Are there any incidents or patterns of incidents that seem to be an ongoing threat? Raise awareness to your local representatives, let them know how their policies are impacting your local area.
Over the years public policy has taken a turn for the worst in enabling a return of crime sprees and spikes in crime rates. The original principles of Community Policing and Community Justice that came out of NYPD and Florida in the 1980s have turned into a revolving-door policy that does not take corrective or rehabilitative measures for those high-risk individuals to stabilize their lives, and policy makers to stabilize peace in our communities. A "Get Out Of Jail Free Card" is not an answer, among other key strategies. Talk to your Mayors and City Council about the rules and regs that impact Police Departments under their jurisdictions. Talk to your county, state, and federal legislators about the change of rules, and how the tide can be turned back to lower crime rates and safety.
Staffing cuts, budget cuts, equipment cuts, personnel shortage, risks to law enforcement family members, where did support for our police go? Legislators need to hear from you, the constituent, about what your local law enforcement needs to protect and serve! Back the Blue! Protect those who protect us!
Talk to your local Mayor, City Council, and County Officials. Just reach out, pick up the phone, send a kind email, attend a meeting. Talk to your state representative and state senator. And reach out to your member of U.S. Congress. We all need to be on the same page, and join together, in a nonpartisan fashion, to protect our communities.
If you are in need of any assistance in contacting your representatives, preparing your statement, advocating for community justice partnerships, or just have a question or comment to share, please Contact Us.
With appreciation to Christian Leadership Council, Rule of Law Committee and ABS Community Research, the Back The Blue Campaign raises awareness on great Sheriffs and Senior Law Enforcement in your local area, and support Community Policing partnerships nationwide. Please contact us to learn more!
